the honeymoon crashers

Being a wedding crasher is all well and good, but if you want to have real fun, crash a honeymoon.

I crashed my first honeymoon back in 2003, I flew to Vancouver to stand next to my beautiful friend Chrissy as she married her Canadian groom.  Then I joined them on their honeymoon in Whister – doing trapeze school at the bottom of the mountain and later, at the top, marvelling at kids taking snowboarding lessons in the middle of summer.whistler trapeze school

Honeymoon crashing proved such fun, that we joined Erin and Rachel for a portion of their honeymoon. We even bought my folks with us for good measure.  The location was Rotorua and the occasion my thirty-sixth birthday.  It was a cracker night and the brides made us a beautiful birthday dinner showcasing the very best kiwi produce.

Here’s a quick montage of our New Zealand adventure (and the ever changing mood of the Little Sister)…..

Memories to last a lifetime!  I made a conscious effort this holiday to be in the picture and I’m happy that in years to come the girls will remember I was there too.  I credit Bron from Maxabella Loves for inspiring me to get out from behind the lens – you can read more about her #inthepicture movement here.

Ever crashed a honeymoon? I wholeheartedly recommend it!

Yay, you’re in the picture! I can’t say I’m with you on the serial honeymoon crashing though… um… seems kinda awkward for the happy couple. But, whatever works for your gang. Clearly much more open and social than my gang! x

Certainly a “by invitation only” kind of thing Bron! We only stayed with them two nights of the trip.
Suspect its more common when you live far from friends and family and are keen to see more of them than just the wedding day.

Oh I didn’t think for a minute that you ‘crash’ crashed the honeymoon! It’s actually a really good idea when I think about it like that. x

You never can tell Bron! Bearhands did a good job behind the camera huh? Think I’ll keep him on! 🙂

A friend had her extended family/inlaws join her on their honeymoon. It was quickly renamed her funnymoon.
