pear wedges with zesty yoghurt in the Tefal Actifry 2-in-1

This post is brought to you by Tefal.

My approach to healthy eating is everything in moderation.  Unfortunately sometime over the school holidays I forgot the moderation part and my diet became everything in moderation!

I’m in the process of paring back the damage (or more correctly, thinking that I should do something about it).

Dessert probably isn't part of most weight loss plans, but I find it I deny myself the good stuff entirely I find I fall off the wagon. This recipe for pear wedges cooked in the Actifry is the best of both worlds. The caramelised pears are so tasty you’d never know they’re a lighter option!  pear wedges actifry 2 in 1

pear wedges with zesty yoghurt - an Actifry recipe

    Ingredients:

    • 750g firm pears
    • 1 tbs coconut oil
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste

    For the zesty yoghurt:

    • 250g greek yoghurt
    • 3 tbs coconut sugar
    • orange zest

    Method:

I can’t claim to have invented this yoghurt trick - Mum’s been doing it for years.  Place the yoghurt in a bowl and sprinkle the coconut sugar on top.  Cover and refrigerate for a couple of hours.  Moisture from the yoghurt will turn the sugar to a caramel liquid on top of the yoghurt.

Sprinkle coconut sugar over greek yoghurt.

After a couple of hours the moisture from the yoghurt turns the sugar to a layer of caramel.

Cut the pears into wedges and place in the bowl with the coconut oil and vanilla bean paste.

Close the lid.  Cook for 35 minutes.  The actifry will stir the pears gently as they cook - perfect for popping on before you sit down to dinner.

To serve, arrange the pear wedges on a plate add a dollop of yoghurt and sprinkle with orange zest.  Simple huh?pear wedges

When the good folk at Tefal asked if I’d like to review an Actifry 2-in-1 I agreed with one condition: they let me give one away to my readers.  I’m thrilled they agreed because I am enamoured with mine and I know you are going to love it too.Win a tefal actifry 2-in-1

This machine does look amazing! And I hear you about the moderation going out the window, 4kgs in a month! But haven't found the illusive willpower and motivation I need yet, still searching! xx

Hi Malinda, coconut sugar is made from the sap of coconut flowers.
It's still sugar, so it's no diet food but it does have a high mineral content (potassium, phosphorous, zinc) plus vitamin B. You can buy it at health food stores, but I've found it to be cheaper at Asian grocers if there's one near you.
Coconut sugar has a lovely dark colour and a caramel flavour, much like brown sugar. If you can't get your hands on any, you can substitute brown sugar on the yoghurt.
        Hope this helps,
        Amanda x
