(not quite) 30 days of reality

What kind of a drongo fails to complete her own photo a day challenge?

    Errr.... that'd be me.

In my defence, August was a sharp departure from normal for me.

On the very first day of this month I rediscovered my love of diving after a fifteen year hiatus. I did two dives on the ex-HMAS Brisbane - a former Naval warship that was sunk off the coast of Mooloolaba. I've never dived a wreck before and exploring the inner workings of the ship was an incredible experience. Just to make sure I really got the full adventure, for the first time in years a humpback whale appeared beside the wreck as we surfaced from our second dive.Whale on HMAS Brisbane

It was not your average Saturday and it set the tone for my month-long departure from reality.

Since then, I've spent an incredible amount of time away from the farm and my normal life. I've eaten more dinners out this month/worn more high heels/carried more evening bags than I have in the preceding seven.

Sharing the news about the book deal was about as far a departure form my normal life as I could have possibly imagined.

To atone for my #realityaday failure, I'm donating an extra hundred dollars to the Hamlin Fistula Clinic - $200 total. This money will enable the Hamlin team to buy two support packs for long-term patients returning to village life, including furniture and other household items to get them settled in their new lives.

    how was August for you?

Edited to add: reality is returning to Casa de Cooker.  Since I typed this post the Big Sister's heel met the Little Sister's beautiful face during the execution of a front flip on the trampoline and my car has sprung a leak.

Perhaps I undertook the challenge a month too early!  A x

Haha. Here I was thinking that your photo a day challenge would be easy. After all, it's a reality challenge. I didn't have to worry if things looked...well real. I failed abysmally - I posted the grand total of 2 photos. I could say my effort at this challenge is pretty much on par with my blog this year.

I'm hopeless at photo challenges...actually at ab crunch challenges, keeping things off the kitchen bench dumping ground challenge, not shouting at the kids challenge, drinking more water challenge,...life seems to always get in the way 🙂

The reality of reality? I was going so well with the challenge until ProBlogger and then it kind of all unravelled. Maybe you need to re-host at a less busy time of year 🙂

That's a really good idea Robyna. Maybe January when our nerves are jangled from Christmas and school holidays! 🙂
