    how to make guacamole

Avocados are temperamental beasts aren't they?

One minute they're rock hard, then in the time it takes to type 'how to make guacamole' into google they've passed their prime.

We forgive them though because they're

    1) delicious,
    2) a great source of oleic aside, which has been shown to help increase our absorption of fat soluble nutrients and lower the risk of heart disease, and
    3) delicious.

Guacamole is a tasty, healthy dip and a terrific addition to tacos and nachos. This recipe is so quick and easy you'll wonder why you ever considered buying the pre-made stuff.*how to make guacamole recipe

Author Amanda Smyth | Cooker and a Looker

This super-quick and easy guacamole recipe is ready in just five minutes!

    Ingredients

    ½ red onion

    2 long red chillies

    3 ripe avocados

    juice of 1 lime

¼ cup fresh coriander leaves, picked and roughly chopped

    sprinkle cumin powder

    salt and pepper to season

    Instructions

Finely dice the onion and chillies

    Peel and pit the avocados.

In a large bowl, combine the ingredients and mash together with a fork until you achieve your preferred consistency. (I prefer chunky guacamole, but if you're a smooth person, just keep mashing until you get there.)

    Notes

Not a coriander fan? It's a genetic condition you know!

Leaving the coriander out of this recipe won't make a massive difference.

You know how quickly avocados turn brown when exposed to air. Have you waited for an avocado to ripen and then cut it open to find it's already brown on the inside? That is because there was a crack where the stem use to be and air got into the avocado. When buying avocados select only ones that still have some stem left on the fruit. You will never get another avocado that is already brown inside when you cut into it.
