how to make piña coladas + make an escape

I was tired of my husband, we’ve been together so long
Like a worn out recording of a favourite song
So while he lay there sleepin’ I text my girlfriends bed
And in what seemed like an instant, there was reply and it read

If you like piña coladas and getting caught in the rain
If the theme song from Frozen has made you completely insane
If your children whinge when their toast’s the wrong shape
We need a long weekend vacation, let’s plan an escape

I didn’t think take much convincing, I know that sounds kind of mean
But me and my children had fallen into the same old dull routine
So I pressed reply-all, proposed something quite mad
five birds four-wheel-driving on Fraser? I typed on the keypad

Yes, I like piña coladas and getting caught in the rain
I’m not much into health food, I am into champagne
We’ll drink cocktails in our deck chairs and have a fire on the cape
At Orchid Beach, Fraser Island, on our four day escape

 how to make piña coladas

how to make Piña Coladas

Ingredients:
2 cups cold pineapple juice
½ cup Bacardi
½ cup Malibu
½ cup coconut cream
1 cup crushed ice + more to serve

Method:
Combine juice, rums, coconut cream and ice in a jug.  Stir to combine.
Serve in plastic coconuts with extra ice.

Fraser Island

We’re heading home tomorrow and upon return to my normal life I promise to stop wrecking perfectly good songs.  In the meantime, if you bump into Rupert Holmes, please offer him my sincere apologies.

how is your weekend going?

can you believe today is the first day of winter?

In the car on the way home now Jodi. Consoling myself with the fact I’ll be seeing my three favourite people very soon. 🙂

I kind of hate you right now 😉 Last time I went to Fraser Island was back in the BD (before Dadabulous) period. I got very drunk on Sambucca with an Israeli systems architect dude (Seriously what is it about me and IT people?). I will remember the hang over for life.

I think I saw you Facebooking with Emily yesterday about being on Fraser Island. I was going to insert myself into the conversation cos I live in Hervey Bay. I was going to offer to wave hello! 🙂

PS. I’ve been back on the Fraser Coast for 18mths and am yet to go to Fraser Island – though I went often as a kid.

    Oh, the Frozen soundtrack!

In an attempt to hear the blessed thing less than three times a day, my wife has suggested that we buy our daughter the Beauty & The Beast soundtrack too. But is this just feeding the habit of a fledgling musical addict? Do you (or the parents of Australia) have a better solution? (I fear confiscating the Frozen CD will only make me a bigger cad that Prince Hans)

“Let it go, Let it go…” Sugarpuff sings that darned song on high rotation and it drives me nuts… PIna Coladas and a girls weekend sounds like a much better alternative. Glad y’all had a great time.
