yet another new year post

My mate Rachel is mad keen on New Years Resolutions.  Having not spent new years with her before, I was surprised by her fervor and enthusiasm for such endeavours.

I tend to lurk at the other end of the resolution spectrum; thoroughly enjoying the excesses of the season and hoping against hope that no one calls on me to nominate my inevitably unsuccessful undertakings.

Rach must have rattled off a dozen.  Have you ever noticed how healthy fit sober people seem to effortlessly make resolutions that are even healthier, fitter and more sober than before?  I suspect it hasn’t occurred to such people that health, fitness and sobriety are finite entities.  There is only so much salubriousness this world can sustain.  So, if you’re wondering about my lack of resolutions I can only say this – Erin and Rach double-dipped and ended up with my share of sobriety.               meh, I wasn’t that attached to it anyway.

We did make a joint resolution – we’re going to do the Colour Run when it comes to Brisbane this year.

I think that threw Rach off the scent, because she didn’t ask again and I continued to sip appreciatively the pomegranate mojito the girls had made me.  enablers.

My SILs - the sobriety thieves.
Erin and Rach – the sobriety thieves

Since then, I’ve been thinking – what are my new years resolutions hopes for 2013?

  • Visit my little brother Ant in rural Victoria.  Stay long enough to have a good look around.
  • To watch the Big Sister blossom at Kindergarten.
  • Learn to ride Bearhands’ malibu surfboard.
  • Make great use of our newly acquired camper trailer.
  • And finally, an obtuse one – I hope to take a lengthy and unexplained break from the blog for a fabulous and undisclosed reason.

{edited to add}  Readers, fear not – it turns out I will not be taking a lengthy unexplained break from the blog for a fabulous and undisclosed reason.  That’s one hope down – and it’s only 11/1 – God help the rest of my aspirations!  🙂

What are your goals for 2013?  Are you a sobriety hog or an indulger?

Sounds like you have some great ‘hopes’ for 2013. I hadn’t heard of the colour run. But sounds like something I could do. I’ve been wanting to do an organised run for a while 🙂

I’m usually not one for making resolutions either, best wishes for 2013 and ticking off your goals.

I am an indulger but have sadly been in forced sobriety mode due to either being pregnant or breastfeeding for going on 2 years now!

My only goal for 2013 is patience. To find more and not lose the little I have. Like you I’m not really big on resolutions. Why make something you know you’re just gonna break days later and give yourself the letdown.

I hear you Kylez – I’ve had my share of involuntary sobriety too!
Patience is not my strong suit at the moment either. It would serve me well to concentrate on this too!

Sounds like you do have some plans. We will miss you if you take a lengthy break. Are you doing it straight away or later in the year?

I don’t tend to make resolutions as I know I will not be able to keep them! 🙂 But I will do as you did and labels some of my “resolutions” as hopes, then I won’t feel so guilty if I break them. 🙂 Happy New Year! 🙂

I don’t believe in resolutions. I guess it’s all those years of breaking them…heh.
I hope the fabulous, undisclosed reason leads you to wonderful opportunities! Happy new year, lovely lady! xxx

Hello there via FYBF again. I have many but first I must ask… What is it? What is it?? The reason for the bloggy break… oh do tell, do, I am excellent at keeping secrets!! Really I am…

I’ve written a post about my NY Resolutions for both myself and the blog but sadly, and upsettingly, no-one has commented at all… Wahhhhhh…..
