On Thursday night we gathered with friends and family to celebrate the launch of my cookbook.
There were a few hiccups - including a 'Home Alone' style missing child who decided to play hide and seek in the corridor as we waited for the lift - but as far as I'm concerned the night was perfect*.
It was wonderful to celebrate this monumental achievement surrounded by the folks who make our lives worth writing about.
Long-time readers will know that the book journey hasn't been a smooth one, but the end result is a book I'm really proud of. I've heard many authors compare writing a book to having a baby and while this book doesn't hold a candle to our daughters, I will say delivering the second was much easier than the first!
While I was deciding what form this new book would take, I thought about why people read my blog. Generally they arrive looking for a recipe, but they return for the stories. So this book took a different, stronger flavour - it really is home cooking served with a side of farm life.
Watching my recipes arrive in kitchens across the country is thrilling. If you've already bought a copy, please shoot me a photo or use the hashtag #cookerandalooker.
have you cooked anything from the book yet?
ever lost a kid in an elevator?
*no children were harmed in the launching of this book.

I have lost a child for sure, how freaky is it?
I would have given anything to be there with your nearest and dearest, but we will have our own special celebration soon - much love my dear friend xxxx
