This blogging caper is all about me, all the time.
What I cooked. Where I holidayed. What mortifying, yet side-splittingly funny situation I found myself in this week.
ALL ABOUT ME. ALL THE TIME.
Over the holidays, it occurred to me that I'd like to know more about you.
What you cooked. Where you holidaed. What mortifying, yet side-splittingly funny situation you found yourself in this week.
In the interests of shortening the virtual distance between us, I dreamed up a few questions. I'll go first...
I met Bearhands at a New Years Eve ball in 2013. I was twenty-four years old. The following year, we spend a week in South Africa. This photo was taken at Graskop Gorge on a old-school camera that used actual film.
My favourite childhood meal was beef stroganoff. So many of my happy family memories come with a side of beef stroganoff. I blogged Mum and Dad's recipe and some of my questionable sporting achievements a few years ago - you can read it here.
My favourite zoo animal is the rhino. We've been lucky enough to share some up-close encounters with these behemoth beauties at Australia Zoo. They have the loveliest hairiest ears.
I think my proudest achievement has been a combined effort between Bearhands and I. Our early days of farming we hard. At times I wondered what on earth I'd go myself into. My proudest achievement is the smooth-functioning farm that we run today. Our daughters are also a combined effort, but can you consider breeding an achievement?
The tallest building I've been to the top of is Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. I was 34 weeks pregnant with the Little Sister and the heat taught me a great respect for women who have summer babies. Bearhands doesn't like heights, so he stood at a safe distance while he snapped my photo. On the way home, the Über-professional Airport Manager made me promise I wouldn't have my baby on the plane. I promised her that had no intentions of giving birth in economy. I kept my word.
So they are my answers. Yep, more stories about me. This blogging caper really is narcissistic, isn't it?
What about you?
How old were you when you met your soulmate? What's your favourite childhood meal? Your favourite zoo animal? Your proudest achievement? What's the tallest building you've ever been up?
and a final bonus question: can you count breeding as an achievement?
I can't wait to read your answers. xx

I was 26 and he was 32! My favourite childhood meal was mum's roast that we'd get every Sunday when we came home for the week from boarding school. Tiger is my fav zoo animal! Proudest achievement, three children, a happy marriage, most of the time, and still very close to my family. Tallest building - Empire State Building or the one in Chicago but can't remember the name! Yes to breeding question...

1) Met the Dadabs when I was 33 and am now very glad that it happened so late! 2) Favorite childhood meal was a roast chicken - a no brainer. 3) monkeys are my favorite zoo animal 4) proudest achievement - retraining as an equity analyst in my mid 30s and purchasing and paying off my apartment single handedly. It was a tiny shoe box but this is Sydney.

MrA and I met at work after I packed up and moved to sydney only knowing 1 other person here, I was 22. Favourite childhood meal was corned beef with mashed potato green beans and white sauce. I cooked it once a month for 10 years before Mr told me he hates it. Bless him. My favourite zoo animal is the chimpanzee. Proudest achievement hmmm other than my daughter being a lovely young lady, I was support crew for my husband walking from Sydney to Melbourne raising $160k for the Melamona Institute's Brain metastatic medical trial and making our target of over 900 people getting a skin check. Yallest building would be sadly Centrepoint as I'm a scaredy cat of heights. And I don't think it's the breeding that's the achievement it's how you raise them that is the achievement.

I met my gorgeous hubby when I was 19 and he was 25 but I thought he was 30. Must have been the beard! It was another two years before we started dating. My favourite childhood meal is lasagna because I loved Garfield, and my mum makes a great lasagna. I don't have one favourite zoo animal but top of the list are rhino's, elephants, monkeys, tigers & seals. My proudest achievement aside from my kids & marriage, is putting myself through high school & three years of university after leaving home at 16yr old. The tallest building is probably Eureka tower. We were going to go up the Petrona Towers in Kuala Lumper but sadly Sept 11 happened while we were there.

I met my husband just before my 17th Birthday. Favourite childhood meal was spaghetti bolognaise. Proudest achievement would be finishing my plumbing apprenticeship and getting Aus plumbing Apprenice of the year in 2009. Tallest building would be one in Japan near Shiba Park. And favourite zoo animal would be Lions. 🙂 and I totally think breeding is an achievement. 🙂

Fav childhood dinner - spag bol. But only Mum's version. It's still the best.
Proudest achievement - running a half marathon. I was always picked last for every single game in P.E. in school
Fav animal in the zoo - giraffes. Always make me smile.
Tallest building - hate heights. Can't stand on a chair. Almost wet myself standing on the glass floor of the Eureka Tower in Melbourne (TMI?)

I met the husband when I was 27 (I think, maybe 26). He was 30. We made breeding an achievement. 🙂 Childhood meal, I was a huge fussy eater, maybe a vegemite sandwich on frozen bread. Favourite animal is a dolphin or the komodo dragon in a zoo. I wouldn't like to come up on one of those in the wild. I can't remember the tallest building I have been up on. Hmm, will have to discuss with my husband. My memory leaves a lot to be desired!!

I love a personal post and getting to know you a little better! I think it's because I'm naturally nosey! I was 33 and my favourite childhood meal was my mum's chicken soup. With matzo balls, which makes all the difference. My favourite zoo animal is a wombat (assuming the zoo is Australian) because like me they love to eat, love to sleep and are more round than square. Proudest achievement was finishing the Disneyland Half Marathon last year and I've been to a lot of tall buildings, despite having a fear of heights. I don't know which one was tallest, but the most recent was the Willis Tower in Chicago. It was all kinds of awesome!

I met Mr YKOT when I was 21. Favourite childhood meal "spaghetti bol" asian style...ie. my mum as a new migrant to Australia would use spaghetti but have soy sauce and asian flavours. Fusion cooking 30 years ago (haha). My favourite zoo animal is the giraffe. I love it when you can see the hugging with their necks entwined. Amazing! Proudest achievement...ooh tough one. Not sure will have to think. I've been to many tall buildings (lucky me) but the tallest was the Empire State Building last year with Mr YKOT. Breeding is definitely an achievement. Parenting is even harder 🙂
