Kids love honey soy drumsticks and it's super easy to make your own at home. Plus by making it yourself, you can save money (and avoid the additives found in shop bought stuff)

Chicken not your thing? This honey soy marinade is terrific with beef, pork and salmon.

Ingredients

1/2 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup honey

2cm piece fresh ginger, peeled, finely grated

1 garlic clove, crushed

1/3 tsp ground white pepper

8 chicken drumsticks (or beef, pork, salmon, chicken skewers)

2 teaspoons sesame seeds

Instructions

Combine soy sauce, honey, ginger, garlic and pepper in a good quality freezer bag. Add chicken and squeeze to coat. Refrigerate for 2 hours, turning occasionally to ensure all the protein is well covered.

Preheat oven to 180°C. Line a baking tray and place chicken drumsticks onto tray. After 30 minutes, turn chicken drumsticks, drizzle with the remaining marinade and bake for another 15-20 minutes or until cooked.

Toast the sesame seeds and allow to cool.

Notes

They honey in this marinade really bakes on, so make sure you line your baking tray well.
