Day 27 of Distanced Ed

The girls slept late in our our room (the final concession to Yes Day). Then a storm rolled through putting paid to my last hope of going fishing.

Sick of t-shirts and shorts, I ironed a shirt and showered ready to feel a bit more stylish for a day. Twenty minutes later Bearhands informed me that his plans for the day featured me on the forklift, so I changed into work kit.

The Big Sister’s school laptop refused to wake up after installing some form of update on itself. Googled potential solutions but all failed. She started recreating the work she’d done yesterday on the “Welcome Back to Term Two” video she’d filmed.

Did some jobs while we waited for the storm to pass. Packed up some uniforms that the girls had grown out of and drove them to a friend’s house. Ready for the resumption of Term 2 tomorrow. Was only going to leave them in her letterbox, but she was working in the driveway so I got to see her beautiful face in person for a few moments.

Came home and got on the forklift. Didn’t feel like doing it today and the Pink Floyd/Wings combo the radio kept belting out didn’t do much to improve my mood, so switched stations and Aretha gave me a pep talk about Sisters coming out of the kitchen. I sang along, all the while wishing I was back *in* my kitchen.

When Bearhands finally declared lunch it was worth it – prawns that I bought from a bloke driving door to door yesterday. Topped off with a couple of ice-cold Coronas which I suspect Bearhands has started buying purely for ironic purposes.

The Big Sister finished her film and sent it off to her Principal. She later received a wonderful reply about it, which made her wheel about the kitchen with happiness.

Meanwhile more unsuccessful laptop CPR.

Smyth Family zoom to wet Baby Claudia’s head in the early evening. The beautiful little possum slept through the whole thing!

Dinner was roast pork cooked a little too long in the Weber (honestly that thing is as unpredictable as a Trump press conference.)

Watched LEGO Masters Australia together. One of the contestants is a school mate’s brother which elevated me to rock star status with the girls. Proving the age old adage “It’s not who you know…” 😉
