Australia Day was interesting one on the farm last year. The heavens opened on our parched farm. The dam went from a muddy puddle to overflowing in the space of eight hours. By the afternoon the paddocks were so flooded, there were fish and eels swimming past our ankles. The extremes of Australian weather crammed into Australia Day seemed apt.
Australia Day Party
I’m excited to be hosting another Australia Day Blog Party. Last year some very talented people linked up some fabulous Australian posts. So, for your reading pleasure – I present yarns, recipes and how-tos from Australia’s best and brightest bloggers!
Bloggers:
Please link up one original post that is Australian in theme – I’m happy for a broad interpretation here!
The link will be live until January 31 – for those who want to let us know what they got up to on the Australia Day weekend. Your post needn’t be new – so feel free to find something in your archives.
If you’re feeling generous, add a link back to Cooker and a Looker from your post.
Thanks for joining in!

Wow what a day that must have been! I love that picture, I can almost feel the warm sun and sand X
It was quite a day – followed by three days without power. Typical Australian summer! 🙂
I just read Pride ad Prejudice by BoyEatsWorld – beautiful and humbling. As a Canberran, I feel really guilty about my having avoided the tent embassy for the last five years. Why? Because I’m an ignorant white Australian who really should have known better… thanks for opening my eyes to this story. **sniffle**
It’s a great story isn’t it Beth? I love it, but I’m embarrassed to admit I probably would have steered the Big Sister’s curiosity in another direction. Shameful for two supposedly educated women huh?
Ahh Australia. A land of contrasts from one minute to the next. It’s why I love it so much 🙂
Me too Mel B. Think I should offer Dorothea McKellar my apologies!
Thanks for hosting the link up! I’m looking forward to reading all the Australia Day posts 🙂
Thanks for joining in, lovely. Your Iced VoVo cake turned out beautifully! x
Did you say ‘broad’ interpretation!? I’ll take you up on that. It is a quintessential Aussie beach that I link, though. And thongs… x
Thongs, sandy knees, rock pools. You’ve nailed it Maxabella! x
I hope to add something to this my lovely, despite my NZ origins! xx
Last Australia Day weekend will forever stick in my mind because of that crazy weather. Hope we get a little rain this weekend, not as much as last year, but a bit to fill the dam and creek would be great.
Whoa! Fish and eels swimming past?! That must have been some serious rain and very Australian too. What a great idea for a link up. I wish I had something to contribute …
It sure was Renee!
The link is up til the end of the month if something comes to you. x
Oooh I can’t wait to try some of these recipes… they are making me hungry! Have a great Australia Day! xx
I love your post – that photo is rad! I had to put two links in, both are Australia to me, what’s more Aussie than the RFDS and going bush? Happy Australia Day 🙂
A huge thanks to Red Doll for the Australia Day link party heads up.
Such a great idea to have an Australia Day Party. Can’t wait to get my teeth into some of the links. Thanks Amanda.
Carolyn
Happy Australia Day! I can’t believe you had eels!!!!
It feels like it’s either drought or flood here! Where is the happy medium? Hope 2014 keeps the farm hydrated (but not flooded!)
It seems like the extreme amount of rain must have come just as a little Australia Day “G’day”. Thanks for hosting the party – this is my first one. Awesome reading!
Thanks for the party Amanda! Hope you had a good one mate!
Anne xx
Great promotion & party, Amanda. Looking forward to working with you again in the future. J’aimee x
So many great posts here. Thanks for hosting 🙂
